Guided Tours

If your wish is to better know this area and its’ legacy, what better way than to be guided by a local expert. They will be able to give you insights into the history and heritage and show you areas of beauty and interest that may be otherwise missed. The itineraries of these guided tours are completely in the hands of those wishing to undertake them, giving you the choice of the monuments and areas you want to visit. The route will be designed based on your choices which may include the following: Torre de los Enciso (Enciso Tower), Plaza de la Constitución (Constitution Square), Ayuntamiento y Salón de Plenos (Town Hall and Plenary Hall), Iglesia de la Anunciación (Church of the Annunciation), Plaza Porticada (Portico Square), Molino del Perrillo (Perrillo Mill), Ermita de Nuestra Señora de Gádor (Chapel of Our Lady of Gádor), Conjunto Arqueológico de Villavieja (Archaeological site at Villavieja), Pantano de Benínar (Benínar Reservoir), Parque Periurbano de Castala (Castala Natural Park), fountains, etc.

Walking Tours

At Present, the Department for the Environment, in collaboration with the Department of Tourism have devised three general tours that can be undertaken on foot and by the individual; ‘Berja – Essence of the Alpujarras’, ‘Old Historic Berja’ and 'Archaeological remains at Villavieja'. Specific information and maps of the routes can be collected from the Tourism Office or the Town Hall.
